Looma Gives

What is Looma Gives?

Looma operates on a Social Utility model where 25% of all platform profits are routed into verified community giving. In addition to corporate ad revenue allocation, Looma includes a direct, in-app micro-donation engine that allows anyone with the Looma app to provide immediate, dignified assistance to unhoused community members.

The Giving Wallet

Your Giving Wallet lives directly in the Looma app. Open the side menu drawer and select Looma Gives (or navigate to /give).

• Wallet Balance: Shows your available funds ready to be disbursed to recipients.
• Add Funds: Tap Add Funds to top up your balance securely via credit/debit card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay. You can select standard amounts ($10, $25, $50) or enter a custom amount.
• Zero Platform Fees on Donations: 100% of the funds you give directly reach the recipient's secure wristband account.

Direct Giving via NFC Tap-to-Give

When you encounter a community member wearing an official Looma Gives NFC wristband:

1. Open Looma Gives in the app.
2. Tap Tap to Give. An NFC scanning sheet will prompt you to hold your phone near the wristband.
3. Hold the top back of your smartphone within an inch of the recipient's wristband. The app reads the cryptographic tag UID, counter, and CMAC signature to verify an authentic wristband.
4. Select a donation amount (presets: $2.00, $5.00, $10.00, or Custom Amount).
5. Tap Confirm & Send. The funds are instantly transferred from your Giving Wallet to the recipient's bracelet balance.

How Recipients Spend Funds: Spend Guard

Funds transferred through Looma Gives are protected by Spend Guard technology at the point of sale:

• Recipients present their wristband at approved community merchants equipped with Looma POS.
• Spend Guard automatically enforces eligible categories: nutritious food, hot meals, groceries, clothing, personal hygiene items, and essential medicine.
• Restricted categories (alcohol, tobacco, lottery tickets, cash advances) are blocked automatically by the POS system.

Donation History & Tax Receipts

• Donation History: Tap the receipt history icon in the Looma Gives hub to view every direct donation and community allocation, complete with timestamps and reference IDs.
• Official Receipts: Download compliant summary receipts for your tax and accounting records.

Mission Impact Dashboard

Tap Mission Impact in the Gives header to see tangible results:

• Community Totals: Cumulative hot meals provided, nights of shelter funded, and community essentials distributed across all active pilot cities.
• Your Personal Impact: A clear breakdown of the lives your wallet top-ups and tap-to-give donations have directly touched.

Becoming a Merchant Partner

Are you a neighborhood grocer, pharmacy, diner, or co-op wanting to accept Looma Gives wristbands?

1. Open Looma Gives in the mobile app.
2. Tap Apply as Merchant Partner (or visit /givesmerchantapply).
3. Submit your store name, business type, address, and contact details.
4. Our outreach team verifies eligible product lines and provisions your free Looma POS terminal account so your staff can begin accepting NFC wristband taps.

Scroll Cap & Wellbeing Exemption

Looma includes daily feed scroll caps to encourage digital wellbeing. Looma Gives activity is completely exempt from scroll caps. You can browse community causes, add funds, and manage giving without any timer constraints.

Difference Between Looma Gives and Org Donations

• Looma Gives (this guide): Direct, closed-loop giving via NFC wristbands and 25% ad-revenue profit sharing.
• Organization Charity Drives: Specific fundraising campaigns hosted by registered charities and non-profits (see Charity Donations).
• Fundraisers: Raffles and prize packages organized by community groups (see Fundraisers).
