Purpose: Looma POS is designed for local retailers, diners, grocers, and pharmacies. It turns standard Android and iOS devices into dedicated redemption terminals that accept contactless NFC wristbands from individuals supported by Looma Gives.
Getting Started & Logging In
- Download Looma POS from your app store or corporate deployment link.
- Sign in using your merchant staff credentials or Passkey.
- Select your registered storefront / location.
- If your store is not yet approved as an authorized partner, review Looma Gives or submit an application at
/givesmerchantapply.
Processing an NFC Wristband Payment
- Enter the transaction amount on the POS keypad or select items from your store inventory.
- Tap Charge with Looma Gives. The screen will prompt for NFC tap.
- Ask the customer to hold their NFC wristband against the back of your terminal device.
- The POS instantly authenticates the cryptographic bracelet chip, verifies sufficient balance, and validates purchase categories against Spend Guard rules.
- Upon approval, a green confirmation screen appears with the transaction receipt code. Funds settle directly into your merchant payout account.
Spend Guard: Ensuring Essential Needs
Looma Gives funds are restricted to basic human essentials. Looma POS incorporates automated Spend Guard protections:
- Allowed Purchases: Nutritious meals, groceries, bottled water, warm clothing, hygiene products, personal care items, and prescription medications.
- Prohibited Items: Alcohol, tobacco/vape products, lottery tickets, gift cards, electronics, and cash back are automatically flagged. Cashiers must confirm items adhere to essential categories before tapping the bracelet.
Kiosk Mode
For high-volume retail counters, Looma POS can be locked into Kiosk Mode:
- Prevents staff from accidentally navigating away from the checkout screen.
- Suppresses background notifications and system popups during customer transactions.
- Enables rapid transaction resets so cashiers can process back-to-back customers in seconds.
Manager Unlock & Shift Controls
Certain high-impact actions require supervisor credentials:
- Accessing end-of-day settlement reports.
- Modifying terminal settings or switching store locations.
- Authorizing transaction refunds or fee reversals.
When prompted, a designated shift manager taps their authorization passkey or enters their Manager PIN on the Manager Unlock Sheet.
Refunds & Refund Guard
If an incorrect amount was charged or an item was returned:
- Open the POS side menu and select Transaction History.
- Locate the transaction by time, amount, or receipt number.
- Tap Issue Refund to open the Refund Sheet.
- Manager authorization is verified via Refund Guard.
- The customer taps their NFC bracelet again, and the funds are credited immediately back to their wristband balance.
Receipts & Daily Reconciliation
- Digital Receipts: Cashiers can display a high-contrast receipt on-screen or send a digital confirmation.
- Daily Sales Summary: View total wristband redemptions, gross receipts, and automated daily bank payout batching in the History tab.
High-Contrast & Accessibility Themes
Looma POS includes a dedicated High-Contrast Mode engineered for busy or low-light counter environments. Toggle this in Settings → Appearance for maximum readability on mobile screens.
